THE MARÍA JOSÉ JOVE FOUNDATION RENOVATES THE “HOME OF HEARTS” PROJECT
The María José Jove Foundation has renewed the agreement with the Professor Novoa Santos Foundation to fully finance the “El Hogar de Corazones” project, a free hosting service.
It is a service benefiting family members of patients of the Children’s Heart Unit who do not reside in A Coruña, which was launched in 2015.
The agreement has been signed by Felipa Jove, president of the María José Jove Foundation and Francisco Vilanova, manager of Integrated Management A Coruña and president of the Professor Novoa Santos Foundation, they inform through a press release.
In its first year in operation, “El Hogar de Corazones” hosted 64 families, with an average stay of thirteen days in each of the cases.
The selection of families is carried out by a health social worker, always giving priority to the most disadvantaged families.
The importance of this service lies in the fact that CHUAC’s Children’s Cardiopathies Unit is a reference in Spain and more and more patients from outside Galicia are treated in A Coruña.
In this sense, in 2015 the families that benefited from this service came from the following provinces: thirty from Pontevedra, eleven from Ourense, ten from A Coruña, five from Lugo, four from Asturias, three from León and one from Aragón.
