The Galician Health Cluster has been participating these days in a training sessions about Interreg SUDOE projects in Santander, as responsible for communication from the RePo-SUDOE project.

Lorena Iglesias, from the Business Development deparment, is taking part in these sessions where yesterday the delivery ceremony of the FEDER concession agreement for the RePo-SUDOE project was held and training on how to establish the communication strategy of a European project began.

Today’s session will continue with the communication training, focusing on how to elaborate an annual communication plan and how to write content for the project webpage.

Remember! RePo-SUDOE looks to develop and disseminate technology for drug repurposing with the objective to increase the competivity from the SUDOE space in this area of R+D, promoting the biopharmaceutical industry and attracting trained human resources

Interreg RePo-SUDOE project kick-off

The Galician Health Cluster took part the last friday in the kick-off meeting of this new Interreg project. During the meeting we discussed the coordination of the project and the communciation plan (led by CSG), as well as the different working groups.

RePo-SUDOE looks to develop and disseminate techology for drug repurposing with the objective to increase the competivity of the SUDOE space in the area of R+D, promoting the biopharmaceutical industry and attracting trained human resources.

For the first time, partners from different SUDOE regions and different areas of the value chain in the development of drugs join together in a common project of drug repurposing.

Senior Eco-Nect visits the Galician ecosystem

In November, the final ecosystem visit under Senior Eco-Nect took place in Galicia, Spain, organized by the Galician Health Cluster (CSG) alongside the project’s Mid-term Event and Forum RIES (#RIES23), an international forum discussing health ecosystem challenges and opportunities.

The visit started on November 6th in Lleida, where partners, accompanied by a Scottish delegation, participated in the Immersive 24H Experience at Gran3dad’s care home, a best practice case selected in the project’s Handbook.

On the second day, partners visited the Galician Regional Health Department, greeted by Sofía López, General Director of Planning and Health Reform, followed by a visit to CEGADI, an intermediate care center that includes a rehabilitation center and a future Living Lab, in Santiago de Compostela.

The consortium then traveled to Vigo, visiting the Living Lab AFAGA, with a showroom from the ITGALL network and presentations on sports and exercise projects shared between CSG and the Galician Sports Cluster. Next the Senior Eco-Nect partners visited Atendo Senior Living, with an overview of their project. The day concluded with an internal project meeting.

November 8th marked the beginning of #RIES23. The social visit (a boat ride along the Vigo Estuary) and a Business Lunch preceded the Senior Eco-Nect Mid-Term Event at 16:00h, where results were shared with an engaged audience. The day concluded with the #RIES23 Gala Dinner, during which CSG awarded the two best practice cases from Galicia included in the Handbook.

The last day focused on the #RIES23 keynotes, round tables, agoras, and project presentations, centered on Innovative care ecosystems, the theme for this year, very aligned with the Senior Eco-Nect project.

Sectoral Table of technological diagnosis (health and care) of the EDIH DATAlife project

Last Friday, together with DIH DATAlife, we organized the second sectoral health and care table within the EDIH DATAlife project, to delve deeper into the challenge extracted from the first table: Residences 4.0. We were accompanied by ADOC, AFAGA Alzheimer, ASPANAES, ATENDO, atlanTTic Research Center, BiG Formación, DomusVi España, Choose Consultores, Himikode, MOIRAI, O LECER SENIOR CARE, Serge, Soltec Ingenieros, Plexus Tech, and Televes; and the need to carry out a digital transformation of the sector was highlighted not only for people but with the participation of people.

Sensorics and people’s living areas were the most prominent technology and application area.

We reminded participants of the services that DATAlife and its partners provide from the EDIH project of which the Cluster Saúde de Galicia, CSG is an active part, especially contributing their experience to the future demolabs/datalabs that they want to establish.

Visit to the Red Cross facilities

On June 28, 2023, the Galician Health Cluster, CSG, represented by the Managing Director Gisela Garcia-Alvarez and accompanied by the collaborator Alvaro Campos from PM4.GOV, visited the Red Cross facilities in A Coruña.

The objective of the visit was to present the EU4CARE5.0 proposal led by the Ministry of Social Policy in collaboration with CSG and focused on the development of a strategy for new care models based on technology that can be scaled to other European countries. The Red Cross innovation team, made up of Trinidad De Lorenzo, Rebeca Vazquez and Marcos Gómez Paz at the lead, was enthusiastic about being part of the project as a partner, so we are encouraged to continue working on the draft of the project that will be presented mid September 2023.

Visit to the Silver ecosystem of Slovenia as part of the Senior Eco-Nect project

Between June 14 and 16 we made our visit to the Silver ecosystem of Slovenia within the Senior Eco-Nect European project, starting with a working meeting about the project’s evolution and the achievement of milestones. CSG is responsible for the mapping of the most highlighted European Silver solutions. Gisela Garcia-Alvarez, PhD, Managing Director, and Sara Olveira Martínez, Communication, presented the results achieved so far.

In the second day, in Sežana we visited the hospital Hospital Sežana, with a gerontological rehabilitation programm focused on respiratory problems and the Inkubator Sežana where we got to know the case of the startup Sopotniki “car sharing for elderly”. Then in Izola we discovered the Hotel Delfin, with a cooperative model of vacation homes for seniors. We ended the day with a social visit to the Postojna caves, with an impressive and very interesting route.

The last day of the visit to the Slovenian ecosystem focused on learning about projects launched from BTC City Lab: one of the largest business centers in Southeast Europe. For almost 70 years it has combined three ecosystems: business, innovation and social impact. We have had the opportunity to learn about two projects launched from BTC: Simbioza (and its app Magda to improve digital skills) and GIB (sports society with more than 100 years of history).

The Galician Health Cluster, CSG, is part of the Senior Eco-Nect project. CSG’s role in this project focuses on carrying out the mapping of key stakeholders and solutions to be included in the action plan, as well as the organization of thematic workshops and the dissemination of results.

Started in July 2022, Senior Eco-Nect is a Horizon Europe project which aims at preparing a joint action plan to support the emergence and the development of European ECOsystems dedicated to silver and ageing ECOnomy as well as ensuring the inclusivity and interconNECTivity between all the key innovation stakeholders of the sector and cross-sectors.

One of the outputs of this project is the mapping of key stakeholders and organisations involved in silver economy in Europe (or with the potential to be involved), that is hosted on the project’s website and accessible for any organisation to register to appear on the mapping.

The Galician Health Cluster, CSG kicks off 2023 with a new project: EDIH, led by DATAlife. CSG is a founding member and key partner within DATAlife healthcare value chain and will be sharing the know-how and tools resulting from the IN4AHA project regarding piloting and testing of technological/digital based solutions as part of “Test before invest” services of DATAlife.

The project EDIH focuses on implementing disruptive technologies in validation and demonstration phases with great potential to increase the competitiveness of Galician companies and public administration, but little widespread at present. It is, therefore, necessary to support companies – especially SMEs – to facilitate their knowledge and adoption. The services will be collected in a catalogue and free for SMEs. These will include advice for implementing new technologies and proofs of the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI), High-Performance Computing (HPC), or Internet of Things (IoT). The project also continuously maps commercially available digital solutions and providers to complement the technology offers.

DIH DATAlife is a non-profit association founded in December 2019 that was born with the vision of turning Galicia into a reference Bioregion in Europe through the connection, coordination, and creation of synergies between the agents of the innovation ecosystem and the productive sectors of the region. After almost three years of work, the European Commission selected DIH DATAlife as a European digital innovation hub, granting it a seal of excellence and financing its project “EDIH DATAlife project” of almost 5,5 million euros, in which a large part of its associates accompanies the association.

The EDIH-DATAlife project is formed by a consortium of 15 members of the Galician innovation ecosystem. It has research, scientific and technological centres (5 partners), sectoral clusters (5 partners), a knowledge transfer centre, two universities and a driving company. They represent all agents of demand, supply, and technology transfer.

During the next three years, the mission of DIH DATAlife and its project partners will be to facilitate the adoption of these new technologies through a catalogue of services and capabilities for SMEs, large companies, and the public sector in Galicia. The service catalogue of the EDIH-DATAlife project is based on the capabilities and facilities of its members, designed to support the entire innovation process: from the detection of needs, the idea or proof of concept to the definition of the business model, pilot tests and support in the search for the financing of the commercial process.

In addition, the creation of federated data spaces and their collaborative exploitation will be encouraged. And through different activities, the project will collect the training demands to improve digital skills and the use of disruptive technologies. All this in sectors of the value chains covered by DIH DATAlife: agro-seafood, forestry-wood, biotechnology, and health care.

In short, DIH DATAlife and its partners will become a one-stop shop for services, providing companies with access to advanced digital solutions through modern infrastructures for technology experimentation and validation.

We’re starting a new European project!

European Digital Innovation Hub DATAlife is a project that aims to accelerate the digital transofrmation of #SMEs in the value chains: agro-seafood, forestry-wood, biotechnology, and health care.

During the month of January we took the first steps in the EDIH DATAlife project. We were at the launch meeting of the project, and we participated in the meetings of the work packages, starting the outline for the sector tables and the plan to follow to carry out clear and aligned communication.
